Annapurna Base Camp trekking is also known as Annapurna Sanctuary trekking. Annapurna Base Camp trek is one of the most popular and spectacular trekking trails in Nepal. Annapurna base camp is situated at 4320m. Although it has some steep climbs in trekking trail, Annapurna Sanctuary trekking is not overly difficult. We start Annapurna Base Camp trekking from Ghandruk and ends in Ghandruk. During trekking days trekkers enjoy spectacular mountain scenery with incredible cultural diversity. They pass through rural farms and villages, variety of terrain and spectacular glacier views. It is more distinct than any other treks because of its multi ethnic villages, rich culture, beautiful landscape and natural scenery. Annapurna Base Camp trekking is a good introductory route for close encounters with the Himalayas in a short period of time.
From the Annapurna Base Camp trekking route you will have a close up look of Dhaulagiri (8167m), Nilgiri (7041m), Fishtail or Machhapuchhare (6998m,) mount Annapurna I (8091m), mount Annapurna (II 7939m), mount Annapurna III (7555m), mount Annapurna IV (7525m), mount Annapurna south (7219m), mount Himchuli (6441m), Lamjung Himal (6986m),Tukuche peak (6920m) etc
We Will welcome and receive you at the TIA Kathmandu and drop you to the hotel. You can take your time to walk around the cozzy shops and get prepared for the trek.
After breakfast we will drive to Pokhara. On this day, we will enjoy driving along the bank of Trishuli and Marshyangdi river. Lunch will be fed on the way. The roads are good and still under maintenances at few spots. After reaching at Pokhara you can take time to rest and walk around the beautiful city. Pokhara is also know as the city of lakes and mountains. Your hotel will be booked near by the famous lake Fewalake, where you can enjoy the evening walk for refreshment.
This is the day that we will start our trek. We will drive around 3 hours to Ghandruk(2012m) then we will trek around 5 hours to Chhomrong. We will start hiking downhill from Ghandruk to meet the off-road which currently ends at Matkiu. Matkiu Bus and Jeep Station is the point from where the shortest hiking trail for ABC starts. The narrow trail with river Modi Khola on the right was a gradual ascent. Just after an hour’s walk on the trail through the forest, we were surprised with the highest and longest suspension bridge on the ABC trail.After another hour of steep ascent from the bridge, we stopped at Jhinu Danda for lunch, Dal-Bhat sounded the most promising meal on the menu. Then we will trek around 2 to 2.5 hours to reach Chhomrong. The lodges have cozy wooden rooms with comfortable beds and common washrooms. Most of the lodges provide heaters, charging points, wifi and hot showers at an additional cost.
Waking up to a misty morning in Chhomrong was quite refeshing, but the views of the snow-covered peaks remained blocked. A descent through the village of Chhomrong gave a glimpse into the local life of the ethnic Gurung tribe living in this area. The trail ahead crossed through the dense forests of oak, rhododendron and cedar trees. The nature itself acts as a sunscreen by not letting the sun pass through the thick cover of the forests. It was easy to lose myself in the tranquility of the woods and the sound of the river flowing all along.
On this day, our guide will lead you to another checkpoint named Deurali, which stands at an altitude of 3230 meters. Firstly, you will go for a quiet walk to a place named Himalaya. You need to remember that loud noises are prohibited on the route from Dovan to Himalaya because of a nearby temple.
Today is the day when we reach the final destination of the ABC trek from Pokhara. Yes, after commencing your journey early in the morning, you will first reach the Macchapuchhre Base Camp (3712m). From here, you can enjoy the magnificent views of Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Gangapurna, Himchuli and other mountains and several other mountains.
After exploring the MBC for some time, you will now trek along a less vegetated path that takes you to the Annapurna Base Camp (4130m). While on this part of the trek, you need to be careful about sudden avalanches. However, you will also closely witness the beauty of different snow-capped peaks like Annapurna range, Singuchuli, Macchhapuchhre, Tent Peak, etc.
As this is a short trek, we will set on a returning journey right on the next day of reaching the ABC. With all the lifelong memories, you will bid farewell to the Annapurna Base Camp and descend towards Sinuwa. Throughout the path, you will be accompanied by the same mountain views, vegetation, and rhododendron and bamboo forests.
After crossing different local habitats, interacting with many people, and walking for about 7 to 8 hours, you will finally reach Sinuwa. There, you will rest in a lodge, have dinner, and prepare for another descending journey on the next day.
Today, you will reach the place from where you started walking towards the Annapurna Base Camp, Jhinu Danda 1780m. You will have a yummy and fulfilling breakfast in the lodge in Sinuwa and move towards Chomrong.
For lunch, you will stop by a place named Jhinu Danda, which is 45 minutes away from Chomrong. After lunch, you will walk to hotspring enjoy with natural hot spring.
Time for Hot Spring: You will have about one hour time to enjoy the hot spring.
After the hot spring you will return to Jhinu Danda and drive back to Pokhara
This the last day of your trek. Today after breakfast we will drive back to Kathmandu. We will drop you to the hotel and bid farewell for the time and hope to see you again.
